Having a 'home field' advantage really helped with this shot. When we jumped out of our vehicles I knew exactly where I wanted to be and what lens I would need.

The light in New Mexico can be truly fantastic!

Considering 200-yard sprint you did across a muddy field with only moments to spare before losing the light, you managed to find an incredible composition! I'm impressed you were able to get so much of the river into your shot. And the sage pushes it over the top. I think you could boost saturation in the sky area some to really push the image. Image seems a tad overexposed here (but I'm on my laptop, so who knows), so I think you could underexpose some more.

And that's certainly a mighty fine answer. I would add in addition to "the view", "the light."
