Today’s image is was actually created yesterday at sunset. We’ve had a good winter here in Taos with a recent storm dumping a lot of snow on the mountains and in town. The clouds have finally begun to lift and yesterday we finally had some brilliant light on the mountains and although it was very cold (we got down to -11 Fahrenheit overnight) there was a few minutes worth of warm alpenglow on the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
I love the drama in this picture. The pinkish orange in the clouds on the far right is just majestic. This is the image that landscape photographs dream of taking. It captures the soul of Taos I know: capable of glorious sunsets, full of drama, at a moments notice, even over the rough planes seen around every corner.
