Last light on Zoroaster and Brahma Temples, Grand Canyon National Park

Two nights ago I was photographing sunset from a spot on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon between Yavapai Observation Station and Mather Point when the sun broke through the clouds and illuminated Zoroaster and Brahma Temples. The light lasted just a few seconds and I literally got off one shot before it was gone again.

A little too close to the edge there Adam!!!! Be careful, dude!! Beautiful shot…….seems like you are getting “the light”, huh???

  2. I was actually closer to the edge in yesterday’s picture from Yaki Point. We’ve had some decent light, I just wish the wind would calm down. Hopefully we’ll get some snow in the next few days.

Nice shot! Beautiful colors and I love the light! Looks a bit contrasty to me though. 30% chance of snow on Sat. Hope you get some!

  4. Hi Phil, thank you for the feedback. Editing and processing is a bit challenging right now because I’m using a (old) laptop and I’m in a room that isn’t exactly setup properly to be a digital darkroom, i.e. lots of light. I was concerned that the photos weren’t coming out the way I hoped they would. I’ll reprocess all the photos when I get home in a few weeks.

We’re at a 30% chance for snow this Saturday too! I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

    Thanks again,
    Adam

Great photos. I have been waiting to see these. When do you get back?

  6. Hi Estevan, it’s good to hear from you. My last day is March 21st. I may take a few days to go down to the southern part of Arizona to hopefully catch the wildflowers. I should be back around the end of March.

  7. Phil, if you are checking in on this post, I updated the image. I’d like to know if it looks better.

    Thanks,
    Adam

Hi Adam! Yes this one looks much better! Not as “crunchy”. ;-)
