Kiva ~ Pecos National Historical Park

~

A beam of light from the mid-day sun illuminates the interior of a kiva at Pecos National Historical Park just east of Santa Fe, New Mexico. A kiva is a subterranean ceremonial chamber built by pueblo indians. I love photographing kivas, especially in the summer because they are considerably cooler than the outside air temperature.

This image of a kiva at Pecos National Historical Park and others like it are available for purchase at my website AdamSchallau.com.

Wow, Adam…very mysterious and I love the shaft of light! It really adds to the overall composition. I think it would look very different without it. NICE!!!

  2. Hi Sarah,

I’ve photographed this kiva without the light beam and you’re right, it is very different without it. I knew I would get a good beam but I had no idea it would turn out so well defined. I’m glad you like it.
