Grand Canyon Artist-in-Residence, Day 1

It has begun. I arrived on today at around 2:45 in the afternoon after driving for 9-hours from Taos. It was warm and windy with a solid overcast layer. Not very exciting conditions for photography. After a quick introduction to some of the park staff I was shown to my living facilities for the next three weeks, a nice little trailer at the end of a cul-de-sac.

I quickly unpacked my gear, made dinner and then headed out to Powell Point on the Hermit’s Rest Road for sunset. As I mentioned, the weather conditions were not favorable for photography, but nevertheless, sitting on the edge of the Grand Canyon was a great way to end the day.

I’m envious! I’m sitting in my office with mountains of paperwork to get through wishing I was sitting on the edge of the Grand Canyon!

Have fun out there, Adam! We are all expecting regular updates here with photos! ;-)
